2008 Toyota Sequoia Specification- Transmission

One of the best vehicles for which Toyota Motors is always proud of is definitely the Sequoia model. Since the time it was launched in the market, it has always made the manufacturer proud. The totally restyled 2008 Toyota Sequoia models are a vehicle that combines technology, safety and functionality. Based more-or-less on the Tundra pickup, the current Sequoia line-up sees the beginning of the second-generation production line. The new Toyota Sequoia line-up is available in three grades – SR5, Limited and Platinum in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. This year the manufacturer has come up with two different types of transmissions, such as:

-5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence (ECT-i)

-6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence (ECT-i)

The 5-speed automatic transmission is mated with the powerful 4.7 liter V8 engine. The engine's 273 horsepower and 314 lb-ft of torque is a perfect match for this SUV. The 5-speed transmission results in impressive acceleration that gives the models the much-needed power to merge with confidence. The optional new DOHC 5.7L V8 engine enables the Sequoia models to provide unmatched performance. This new engine produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. The transmission for this engine is an all-powerful six-speed automatic one. The 5.7-liter engine offers more than adequate power for virtually any circumstance and any condition of road. Both the automatic transmissions adapt gear-shifting patterns as per the driving conditions and driver's input. Shift logic holds gears on inclines for power and on descents for increased engine braking, which can be helpful when towing. As the transmissions come with electronically controlled automatic overdrive (ECT) it also helps in giving a good gas mileage.
