2008 Toyota Sequoia Exterior Overview

The Toyota Sequoia is a full-sized Sports Utility Vehicle from Toyota Motors. Since the time, it has been launched in the market; these smart looking models have always made the manufacturer proud of its creation. With the totally restyling, the Sequoia models continue to have an outstanding reputation for utility, reliability and durability factor associated with it.

Body Styles

This year, the Sequoia nameplate is available in three interesting trim levels, such as base SR5, Limited and top-of-the-line Platinum. The models are designed to accommodate seven to eight adult passengers depending upon the trim and body-style. All the models are available in both rear-wheel and front-wheel drive. The exterior body comes in beautiful shades of color such as Timberland Mica, Super White, Slate Metallic, Silver Sky Metallic, Pyrite Mica, Nautical Blue Metallic, Desert Sand Mica, Cassis Pearl, Black and Arctic Frost Pearl.

Exterior Body

The engineers and designers have given the 2008 Sequoia a new, larger body size and a tough new look. The all-new Tundra pickup platform provides an exterior dimension that is competitive with other vehicles in the same category. However, just like its predecessor, the models still sport a two-box shape. But, however, the new Sequoia model is sleeker due to the elimination of bump strips on the side doors and subtler fender flares. The exterior body is highlighted with a larger chrome grille. Sequoia's overall length, width and height are increased, its wheelbase lengthened and its front and rear track is widened. Eighteen-inch aluminum wheels are standard and 20-inch rims are optional.

Power Under The Hood

For this year, the manufacturer has come up with two powerful engine configurations to make the line up more compatible with any type of road condition. Under the hood, one can find a standard 4.7-liter V8 engine with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This engine imparts 273 horsepower and 314 pound-feet of torque. It is mated with a five speed automatic transmission. The optional 5.7 Liter V8 engine gives 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7 Liter engine is equipped with a six speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard on the Platinum models and for the SR5 and limited, it is kept as an optional feature.

Smooth Driving

Both engines give a smooth and quiet drive no matter whether one is riding one of the Sequoia models on city streets or on highways or on rough tracks. For a truck-based SUV, the riding experience of all the eight models is unusually smooth and settled. Moreover, the steering is as precise as any car. To produce a smooth highway ride, the models also come with standard new front suspension, an all-new independent rear suspension and improved shock absorber valving. Both engines run on regular gasoline. The fuel economy ratings of the Toyota Sequoia are 15 miles per gallon on city streets and 18 miles per gallon on the highway.

Overall, the 2008 Toyota Sequoia SUV has got many things to give tough competition to other models available in the market.
