Sequoia, Toyota's largest sport utility vehicle was launched during 2001. It was evolved from the company's Tundra pickup truck and is built at the same Indiana plant. The 2008 Toyota Sequoia is a four-door sport-utility. It is available in four different trims, ranging from the SR5 4X2 to the Limited 4X4. Both the trims are equipped with a standard 4.7-liter, V8, 273-horsepower engine that gives 15-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
The latest Toyota Sequoia shares much of the Tundra's interior design and features. Much of the features are a carryover from its earlier predecessors. Some standard equipments include antilock brakes, traction/antiskid control, three-row seating for seven or eight adult passengers, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. The curtains will retain rollover deployment and will cover all seat rows and not just the first two.
Like its predecessor, the 2008 Toyota Sequoia is basically a four-door car that has got many pickup's styling cues, features, mechanical components and new-design separate frame. At almost 204 inches long overall and weight by around 200 pounds on average, the Sequoia is considerably longer than the Japanese automaker's Land Cruiser SUV. Light changes for 2008 models include additional safety equipment, as well as some reshuffled options. Two V-8 engines are offered in the 2008 line-up.
